Flow Dynamics recently partnered with a nationally recognized client to engineer a custom accumulator stand designed to meet one critical mission: provide high-pressure support to plant hydraulics during system startup—while enhancing overall efficiency, performance, and system protection.

But how does an accumulator stand deliver such value? It starts with smart engineering and an understanding of what an accumulator really does.

Inside the Accumulator:

An accumulator performs several vital tasks within a hydraulic system:

  • Maintains System Pressure

  • Stores Hydraulic Energy

  • Dampens Shock and Vibration

  • Delivers High-Pressure Flow During Startup

Using a nitrogen gas pre-charge, the accumulator stores pressurized hydraulic fluid. As system pressure rises, the accumulator compresses the nitrogen gas while collecting oil. If pressure later drops, the nitrogen expands—releasing the stored fluid back into the circuit.

The result is a system that:

  • Operates with fast, responsive reactions

  • Achieves  energy efficiency

  • Provides longer service life and reliability

  • Offers smoother startup and shutdown cycles
